The Referee Certification Course was successfully conducted on January 10, with the participation of coaches and students from six dojos.
The course was led by Master Instructor Patrick Richoux, who brought years of experience and insight to the program. During the session, he provided a thorough and thoughtful explanation of the latest USA Karate rules, guiding participants through rule updates and interpretations with clarity and practical examples. Complex match scenarios were carefully analyzed, helping attendees gain a deeper and more accurate understanding of officiating standards.
In addition to theoretical instruction, the course included hands-on practice, where participants actively trained in judge and referee hand signals, positioning, and decision-making during match situations. This practical component allowed coaches and athletes to apply the rules in real-time scenarios, strengthening their confidence and consistency in officiating.
The course aimed to enhance refereeing quality and promote a unified understanding of competition rules across dojos. Feedback from participants was positive, and the training contributed to improving overall officiating standards within the karate community.
